Friends of the Library
The Friends of the Carnegie Public Library invite you to consider joining to help support your library.
Dear Prospective Member,
Thank you for considering being part of the Carnegie Public Library’s new Friends of the Library group. We hope that you know that you would be truly welcome, and that your participation is vital to the success of your public library.
Volunteers seem to be the busiest of all people, and we understand that you have many demands on your time. We’re making our request a reasonable one: if you could give just one hour of your time per week, or even per month, that investment would yield big returns.
The Library is feeling the impact of the current economic slump. Our dollars, like yours, just don’t seem to stretch as far as they once did. The City may not be willing or able to increase the Library’s funding to cover the costs of maintaining and improving the level of service our patrons deserve. Demonstrating to our city officials that the Carnegie has the support and help of its Friends would help encourage them to give their support too.
How can you help? Let us count the ways!
At the Library
The landscaping needs TLC and regular maintenance.
Our lovely historic building has oak woodwork, artifacts and little nooks & crannies, that need dusting and polishing.
If you enjoy helping people, and have basic computer skills, your help at the circulation desk would be invaluable.
If you like library work but prefer to work alone, re-shelving books and putting shelves in order is an important library task.
We are planning to have several bake sales. We need all the goodies you can give.
This year’s book sale was a spectacular success, thanks to all of our Friends of the Library. We’ll need your help to do it again.
