Message from the Library
During hard economic times, people increasingly turn to their public libraries. Libraries provide many free services that would otherwise take money from the family budget.
If you can’t afford internet access right now, the Carnegie Public Library has computers for you to use. You can also bring your own laptop and use our Wi-Fi connection for no charge. Has Netflix or video rental from other sources become too expensive? You can check out movies in DVD or VHS format. Did you have to cancel or let your newspaper subscription expire? Come and read the local papers right here at the Library. Are you seeking employment and need help? We collaborate with the Colorado Work Force Center and offer one-on-one counseling every Tuesday. We also have a computer without the usual one hour limit on which you can file for unemployment benefits and apply for jobs through the Work Force Center. We have an easy-to-use program on our computers to help you create your resume. Are you tired of being within the same four walls? Come and visit! You can read books, magazines, or newspapers in the adult department (borrow ours or bring your own) in one of our new reading nooks. If you have ties to the area, you may peruse local information in the Sara Murphy Historical Collection Room. You can spend time with your children or grandchildren in our lower level. We have great books for all ages, tiny tots to teens, puzzles, games, and a weekly story time. It’s your library: use it!
The Library is currently inviting your input so that we can further improve our service. You can visit our website and send comments via email at carnegiepubliclibrary.org if you prefer. Also, the Carnegie Public Library Board of Trustees meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 5:15 p.m. The public is always welcome to address the Board during the Public Participation segment of the meeting. (Of course, you must sign in by giving your name and address and identify the topic on which you wish to speak.)
